A Small but Important Change

Today marked day 24 of my running journey, and it felt like a natural point to make a small change. Until now, I have kept things very controlled, sticking strictly to walking and Zone 2 running. The focus has been on building consistency, staying comfortable, and allowing my body to adapt without pushing too hard too soon.

Introducing a Faster Running Pace

Today, after 24 days of easy effort, I decided to move into slightly faster running.

The result was 5.85 kilometres in 46 minutes and 37 seconds. That works out to an average pace of roughly 7 minutes and 58 seconds per kilometre. More important than the numbers, though, was how the change felt. Running a little faster made the session more demanding, but it also added variety and made the workout feel different from the previous few weeks.

Keeping the Bigger Picture in Mind

Day 24 feels like a milestone, but it is only one part of the larger journey. The first 23 days were about building a foundation through walking and easy running. Today was about testing that foundation carefully. I am pleased with the result, especially because the change felt deliberate rather than forced.

For the next sessions, I will continue listening to my body and balancing faster efforts with easier days. Consistency still matters more than speed. If I can keep progressing patiently, then this slightly faster run may become the beginning of another useful stage in the journey.
