After successfully completing the 5.6K JPMorgan Run in under 35 minutes (31:59), it's time for a new challenge.
The 10K in 59:59 Challenge!
The goal is simple: run 10K in 59 minutes and 59 seconds or less.
I originally started this challenge on June 7, but I developed significant pain in my foot, leg, and adductor muscles. After two months of rest and visits to an orthopedic doctor and a physiotherapist, I'm starting over.
Today is Day 1 of 114.
Why 114 days?
The Kenyan running coach Eric Kiptoo recommends a 12-week training plan for runners who are already running three times per week. Since my audience consists of beginner and intermediate runners, I'm adding four extra weeks to help people transition from walking to running safely and gradually.
Today's walk/run:
5 min running
1 hr 5 min walking
5.29 km
